Abused women of faith are more likely to stay in an abusive relationship, because they have been misled to believe it is their duty as a good Christian wife and/or mother to obey and accept the mental or physical abuse from their partner. Some of these women are fearful of the moral repercussions of breaking up a marriage or a family. An applicant’s proposed fellowship experience should position her to engage in new endeavors, motivated by an interest in positive social change, and/or enable her to “grow through change,” achieve personal and professional goals and contribute to social justice in our community.→ Click here to download the 2018 Pat Asch Fellowship Packet, which includes all application requirements and details. Finalists will be notified of the Committee’s final selection status by April 1, 2018, and the Fellowship recipient will be announced to the public at YWCA Richmond’s 2018 Outstanding Women Awards luncheon.Students will also work on a variety of community service projects and earn up to 6 service hours and 8 service learning hours.
